Della Fashion

As I was checking out the Vans website looking for something different to wear this spring/summer. I came across this unique design of vans sneakers called" Della". This sparked my interest as I loved the African element that came across through the design. Through continued research I was able to find out what Della was all about and I landed well into something AMAZING!

Della is a fashion line handcrafted by a community in Ghana, West Africa. The passionate, talented women who create the pieces are given an opportunity to build a foundation for a better life through jobs, education and skills training.

Not only is "Della" making handcrafted shoe's but clothing as well. Urban Outfitters partnered with them to carry their Fashion line the summer of 2013.

I'm in love with these colors & prints. I almost didn't want to share in hopes that I can find these blue and yellow shorts. But I decided to play nice. I sure hope they have a new line coming out this spring but until then purchases can be made for the Della Vans that are super cute as well.

Naturalista Added to SNL cast

Sasheer Zamata the 1st African American female has been added to the SNL "Saturday Night Live" cast and it only took over six years for it to happen since Maya Rudolfh left.  She is an American actress and comedian who is bringing natural hair to the forefront on mainstream media. I have never been a big fan of SNL but now that this natural sista has joined I plan to tune in. After watching a few of her webisodes it felt like she's the natural girl next door. So tune in to SNL and support this beautiful, well-spoken and funny sister girl! Here's a clip with her 1st episode on SNL.

Starting your day to healthier hair

It has been proven time and time again that a healthy diet can improve the condition of your hair. How often do we say "wow my scalp is feeling super dry this week or my hair is shedding a little more this month'?  A proper diet can give us the nutrients we need to have bouncy, shiny and healthy scalp with growing hair. With all the busyness in our lives we are sure to either skip meals at times or run through the drive through to get something we absolutely don't need. I am one to fit right in that category on some days.

I’ve never been a huge fan of breakfast, unless it’s a Saturday morning and my husband brings it to me in bed. French toast, bacon & eggs with strawberries will perk me right up. I do however know that breakfast is an important meal of the day, so I try my best to at least put in my body something lite before leaving the house during the week. Its easy to prepare the night before by whipping up a breakfast smoothie that you can grab and run out the door. Greek yogurt with ground oats, a banana & strawberries is something that I will make sometimes. It’s super healthy, quick to make, and carries me through the morning. And if you don’t want to make it for breakfast it makes for a great snack! Here are the ingredients

Ingredients:

Yoplait Greek Yogurt

1/2 cup of rolled oats

1 banana, broken into chunks

8 frozen strawberries

1 teaspoon of honey *optional

Directions

  1. In a blender, combine Yoplait Greek Yogurt, oats, banana and strawberries. Add honey if desired. Blend until smooth. Pour into a freezer safe cup and freeze if plan to have it for breakfast the next day.

Are you Frustrated because the oils from your hair are causing you to break out?

Are your oils causing you to break out?

I'm sure we all suffer from a little acne break out or two, from the large amount of oils and creams we put on our hair that somehow travels to our face.  I am constantly wiping my hairline and forehead from the oils and then it happens, "A BUMP" appears out of no where. Well what in the world can you do about that?  Well I'm hear to give you a few pointers that may help.

1- Thoroughly cleansing your face morning and night with a great cleanser is a start. If you have oily skin, using a foaming cleanser with a mild acid always helps with the excess oils the migrate down onto the face or just having a oily face period.

2- Exfoliating the skin Bi-Weekly can help oil build- up on the face.  My favorite exfoliant is by far Baking  Soda. Yes the same little box of Baking soda we put in the fridge to neutralize odor. Its like 50 cent a box, it is all natural and it will leave your face and body nice and soft. Just mix it in with you favorite cleanser or body wash and lightly scrub away, rinse it off and moisturize.

3- If you are experiencing breakouts from you products, but your face is dry.  Try moisturizing face , but eliminate the area in which you are breaking out.  If you are have oily skin initially you may want to try using a oil free moisturizer, which moisturizes but it wont overcompensate your oiliness.

4-You can also use oil eliminator wipes threw out the day.

5-For those of you with more serious break outs you may want to visit you local Dermatologist for a possible medication regimen,
